Love his original music. It is a little dark sometimes but I find that makes it more interesting. Highly recommend his live performances. He has a great rapport with his audience. He does some great cover songs where he adds his own flavor to songs that we all know and love. Everyone should see him live when they get the opportunity.” - Scott Shephard

From the hills of Kentucky to the heart of the Midwest, Dakota Ray Parker writes songs like a man who’s lived every line. Raised between rural freedom and the harsh realities of foster care, addiction in the family, and poverty, Dakota found his escape at 13 when he was handed a guitar — a moment that quietly set his entire life in motion.

After moving to Indiana at 18 following his mother’s passing, he spent years in factories, working long shifts and writing songs on breaks. In 2023, he took the biggest leap of his life: he quit his job to pursue music full-time. Since then, Dakota has carved out a sound that’s all his own — gritty Americana with the storytelling soul of bluegrass and the bruised edge of ‘90s grunge.

His first single, “Rebel on the Run,” earned international radio airplay, followed by two personal and well-received EPs, Kentucky Gap and Higher Ground. Dakota’s momentum continued into 2024 with the self-titled full-length album Dakota Ray Parker, a 17-track collection written across two years featuring stories of struggle, survival, and resilience — including collaborations with notable local musicians like Troy Losure.

As a touring father and full-time artist based in north-central Indiana, Dakota has built a loyal fanbase through relentless live shows, genuine vulnerability, and a catalog that refuses to shy away from uncomfortable truths. Dakota has opened for Alex Williams, Isaac Rudd and the Revolvers and has played 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, Jammin' at the Legion in New York, Dukes Indy in Indianapolis and one sold out show at the Coterie in Kokomo, IN. Dakota has also started working with well known company Duetti to assist him in furthering his release success.

2026 marks his boldest chapter yet, starting with the January release of “Clown,” a fast-paced, emotionally-charged anthem that pushes his sound into new territory. With new singles, acoustic sessions, expanded touring, and his next major project already in motion, Dakota is gearing up for a year defined by growth, grit, and the strongest music of his career. Music that is a mix between Tyler Childers & The Avett Brothers.

Dakota Ray Parker writes songs for the survivors, the wanderers, the broken, and the rebuilding — and 2026 is the year he takes those stories even further.
